1 + 4 + life. An Autumn long weekend!

1 (week) + 4 (photos) =  life.

Living on the Gold Coast we complain when the weather drops below 18 degrees. We wear ugh boots and complain of the winter cold, when really it's nothing compared to our friends in Australia's southern states. We are very lucky we don't experience actual winter coldness and that's why I live in the sunshine state!

I just spent a long weekend in country Victoria and I was excited for the cold weather. Nearby they had recent snowfall and the weather had been less than ten degrees. Excitement was an understatement...I was jumping out of my seat, I got to wear boots, knits, scarfs and jackets. It is such a novelty to me! Hubby and I flew out after work on Thursday night and treated ourselves to a night at the Crown in Melbourne (thanks to our credit card points, it was a freebie which makes it even better!). We dined riverside, placed bets at the casino and wore boots & jackets out to dinner. We had a true Melbourne city experience! We then jetsetted in our hire car Friday morning where we spent two nights in Ararat (google it, its west of Ballarat and quite famous as starring on The Biggest Loser!). My Hubby's Nanny was celebrating her birthday on the Saturday, so we surprised her, turning up on her doorstep on the Friday. Boy did she get a surprise, her smile was so worth it! I LOVE surprising people, I am known to just turn up unannounced (in a good way!).

So this week I thought I would share a snippet of my weekend with four snaps, linking up with Pip from Meet Me At Mikes. Here is how it went...
1|| Melbourne.

Yellow cabs, autumn leaves, chilly weather and a change of scenery! A quick less than 24 hour stay in Melbourne was fun! I would love to visit again and be able to see and do more. I did love the view from our room though, we could see twinkly city lights and the river it was so pretty. This is a quick shot as we were driving out of the hotel carpark (is it ever sunny in Melbourne?).

 2|| Lookout.

If you go to Ararat, you must got to One Tree Hill lookout. It's just what people do. I love looking at the open plains, rolling hills and rustic landscape. Although a coastal girl, there i something about the fresh country air and open endless landscapes that captivates me.

3|| Details.

Hubby's Nanny's house has the most beautiful detailed cornices and architraves. This is a quick, little bit wonky snap I took whilst laying in bed admiring the incredibly high ceilings, its beautiful details and chandelier. I love the history of an older home and the stories the four walls could tell.

4|| Pamper Time.

I came home from our quick getaway to find out that my Mother In Law had booked a girls spa day at Kiva Spa in Mullumbimby (about 30 mins south of me). I had given her a gift voucher for Mother's Day, so she booked us a spa and massage package for the morning. It was heaven. Plus I din't have to worry about work as Hubby was filling in for me which was fabulous, there was no emails or stress when I returned home this afternoon.

Tell me, how was your week? Are you a lover of the Autumn chilly weather or are you more of a sun seeker, warm coastal lover like me?! Have you been to Melbourne before, what did you think?
Are you playing One + Four = Life, too? Leave a comment below, I'd love to pop over and say hi!

PS: You are going to LOVE this weeks Feature Friday post. As I was on the road last week I didn't get a chance to post one, so I am making up for it this week! Can't wait x

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Victoria! I like to visit cold places but love the fact that I can go home to better weather. In saying that I live in Perth so the sun maybe shining in winter but it can be cold cold days. I used to chase the sun travelling around the country... now that was the life!
