Happy Birthday Glamour Coastal Living + A Discount Offer for you!

Glamour Coastal Living celebrates it's 2nd Birthday!

As part of the celebrations, I just wanted to say THANK YOU!

I chose the image above, as it stands as a metaphor of my journey so far.
I never imagined as I sat down to start Glamour Coastal Living that it would turn into the wonderful community it has. I am so grateful to be a part of the amazing blogging community and so thankful to all of those who have worked with me, provided guidance and support. I chose to step out of my comfort zone and walk the unknown path...and I am so glad I did!
To all my wonderful readers, a big THANK YOU! I appreciate every single one of you and the interaction you have with me via the blog and social media. It makes my day receiving your comments, kind words and to see you interacting with Glamour Coastal Living.
What started as 'just a hobby' has become so much more and I cannot wait to see Glamour Coastal Living expand and grow.
Recently, I was floored. I literally had to pick my jaw up off the ground I couldn't believe what I was reading - I was a Kidspot Voices of 2015 Finalist in the Home & Wellbeing category. I honestly couldn't believe it, my name, my blog alongside some of my most admired Bloggers - it blew me away. For me, it was a massive highlight and cemented to me that this is what I should be doing, to keep going and enjoy the ride blogging takes me along....

What next?
I hope you look forward to enjoying more Glamour Coastal Living and you can expect to see more home toursliving inspiration and creative projects and recipes.

Spontaneous Fun: Top 5 things to do in Noosa

\
Spontaneous: As a result of sudden impulse or without premeditation.

I had what you would call a spontaneous weekend. I woke on Saturday morning and walked Currumbin beach with Hubby and our fur baby and casually mentioned we should be a little spontaneous this weekend - just pack the car up and go exploring.

That is just what we did.

1 + 4 = Life: Long Weekend Edition

1 (week) + 4 (photos) =  life.
I love the creativeness of Pip from Meet Me At Mikes. If you have dropped by the last couple of weeks you would have seen that I have been joining in on this weekly photo wrap up that Pip calls 'One + Four = Life'. Its a fun way to visually display the week that was. It's a great way to reflect on the week, show gratitude and be inspired and fulfilled with how you spent your time.
I enjoy looking back on the week and it gives me an opportunity to share with you a little snippet of my life.

Home is when I am with you

What I love most about my home is who I share it with.

You may have gathered, if you follow along with my weekly Feature Friday posts  and blog antics that I love homes and I especially love to see inside and see how people live, their furnishings and style.

House, home, unit, apartment, cottage, penthouse, shed, caravan...the place we reside can be called alot of things. If I was to ask you what does home mean to you, I know its likely that your answer wont be the same as the person next to you. This week the word home has fascinated me, then  I came across these words on We Made This Home and they were so fitting to how I feel about this word Home.

"Home means many thing to different people...
For me it is not just the old bricks and mortar that stand firmly on it's foundations, it is a place of comfort and a sense of belonging. Our home represents a journey and it tells a story - our story. Memories have been made here, both of happy times and of testing times, treasures found along the way fill the rooms, each piece destined to be apart of this story. Our home is an organic ever changing space that grows with us, week by week, month by month, It is the place where our creativity has the freedom to be expressed in ways that reflects just how we are feeing at any given moment, furniture is shuffled and our things are arranged and rearranged almost constantly."

Reading these words, it felt like I had put pen to paper and written them. It is exactly how I feel about a home.

The words to this song are some of my favourite. So fitting aren't they?
Home is whenever I am with you.

So click the song link, let the words play and have a think...
As I want to know

WHAT DOES THE WORD HOME MEAN TO YOU?
Does your home grow with you, as the seasons change, do you shuffle furniture and does your home tell your story?

Until next time, lover of all things home

1 + 4 + life. An Autumn long weekend!

1 (week) + 4 (photos) =  life.

Living on the Gold Coast we complain when the weather drops below 18 degrees. We wear ugh boots and complain of the winter cold, when really it's nothing compared to our friends in Australia's southern states. We are very lucky we don't experience actual winter coldness and that's why I live in the sunshine state!

I just spent a long weekend in country Victoria and I was excited for the cold weather. Nearby they had recent snowfall and the weather had been less than ten degrees. Excitement was an understatement...I was jumping out of my seat, I got to wear boots, knits, scarfs and jackets. It is such a novelty to me! Hubby and I flew out after work on Thursday night and treated ourselves to a night at the Crown in Melbourne (thanks to our credit card points, it was a freebie which makes it even better!). We dined riverside, placed bets at the casino and wore boots & jackets out to dinner. We had a true Melbourne city experience! We then jetsetted in our hire car Friday morning where we spent two nights in Ararat (google it, its west of Ballarat and quite famous as starring on The Biggest Loser!). My Hubby's Nanny was celebrating her birthday on the Saturday, so we surprised her, turning up on her doorstep on the Friday. Boy did she get a surprise, her smile was so worth it! I LOVE surprising people, I am known to just turn up unannounced (in a good way!).

So this week I thought I would share a snippet of my weekend with four snaps, linking up with Pip from Meet Me At Mikes. Here is how it went...

Around here lately + a Mothers Day Giveaway!

Things have been a little quiet around here lately. I spent a whole week on bed rest last week after recovering from some laparoscopy surgery, which meant that I had lots of time to be snoozing and filling in time on the internet.

This is what I got up to...

|| Planning ||
A weekend trip to country Victoria in two weeks time to visit Hubby's Nanny & family. There is a new addition to the family, with Nathan's cousin having a baby girl earlier in the month so it will be wonderful to meet her and have newborn snuggles! We love going to visit, as you can see from my picture below it is a very different landscape to ours here on the Gold Coast. We actually get excited to wear coats, boots and scarves, it is a real novelty! I can just imagine you Victorian's reading this rolling your eyes hehe. But I love seeing the Autumn leaves the most, I can't wait. I am hoping we might be able to fly out the night before and maybe tack on a night in Melbourne.
Any suggestions of things to see/do/stay for one night before we drive out the next morning?

It's a great way to reflect on the week, show gratitude and be inspired and fulfilled with how you spent your time. Around here this week!

Here is a little snippet into whats been happening as of late and what I will be getting up to this long weekend.

The Kmart Forecast on Instagram, We all love Kmart's bargain homewares range and I love following this Instagram page and seeing how everyday homes are stlying and making use of the Kmart range. Have you purchased this mirror or any other great Kmart buys lately? It is great having such an affordable range where you can mix and match to create something fabulous!

The lovely Sally from Coastal Vintage had on her blog a hometour of Tara Dennis's rustic, coastal abode. The home featured some of Sally's Coastal Vintage treasures and the look in the home was charming, character filled and loved. It made for a very homely feel!

Camping under the stars over the long weekend.
I LOVE going camping and the Easter long weekend is perfect - four consecutive days off its a great opportunity to get away and relax. My Husband and I have our own construction business so it is hard to get time off together to be able to switch off the emails and phone and not think about work. We are taking Thursday off work and we are heading about 2 hrs west of The Gold Coast. We will be camping on a lakes edge where we will roast marshmallows on the campfire, go fishing, water skiing and of course sit around with family and friends and do nothing but admire the stillness and nature! There is about 7 of us going, so a good sized group and it should be alot of fun. We have a camper trailer that we tow, plus this year the boat, so that means Hubby & I will be driving separately both towing a load. Should be fun, we will be chatting away on the UHF radio I daresay as we wind over the range to our destination. Can't wait!

Are you a camper, a glamper, or is it not your thing? What are you going to be getting up to this Easter long weekend? Time at home, or a little getaway?

I will be taking a little bloggy break and this will be my only post this week. I will be back next week with some stories to tell of my camping shenanigans I am sure. Have a great time with family and friends and enjoy your long weekend

What I've been planning / admiring / writing this week. My week in rewind!

What I've been planning / admiring / writing this week. My week in rewind!

A gallery wall for my living room.
My new lounge purchase has now turned into a living room redecorate. It feels great and I am loving refreshing this space. We have lived in our home for just over two years now and done a major reno and refresh. So it feels like time for another change and I am even adding a few autumn touches (think sheepskin rug, a chunky knitted throw, new cushions and a few warmer tones!). I know, your probably thinking it doesn't even get cold on the Gold Coast, but I consider anything below 20 degrees freezing so I have to be prepared for the autumn chill on its way!!

What has been making me smile

Want to know what I have been up to this week?

|| Buying ||

We had been thinking of buying a new lounge for months now and then last year the boxing day sale came along and I found one that I loved...it had a massive price tag and was in a shop in Sydney. It wasn't going to happen! Couldn't even convince Hubby to do a roadtrip to go lounge shopping (just a quick 10 hour trip:P ) So I compromised and bought a lounge at half price, that was only 15 minutes away. Hubby was easier to convince and it was purchased and now I have been patiently waiting for it to arrive and yesterday it did! Yay! It is charcoal in colour, I wanted a light grey but it didn't come in that unfortunately. So charcoal it is. Now I have been pinning like crazy looking at Scandi Beach House's with charcoal lounges. Come on over to take a peek here. I listed my old lounge for sale on a second hand site on Sunday morning and within two hours someone had paid and collected it - bonus! I then needed a lounge to be able to watch The Block room reveals on Sunday night, so we maneuvered the outdoor rattan one inside to be a temporary one. It was kinda fun, like moving house and moving the furniture around. It was also a great excuse for a spring clean. Seriously ladies, check under your lounge it gets dirty and very dusty trust me!

My finds this week

Want to know what I have been admiring this week on the internet?

|| Looking at ||

Maui. Doesn't it look like the dream holiday destination? Last year we went to Fiji in the middle of our Aussie winter which was fabulous to escape the cold. Not that the Gold Coast drops below 20 degrees! This year I am thinking Maui. The only thing is I am a terrible flyer. Its not that I hate planes, I just hate the travel, not being in control and eating airport food. Each time I have flown overseas I have fainted on arrival, except for Fiji where I started saying 'Bula' and jumping up and down. But, that was only a 2.5 hour flight and we were spread out in the exit row, so not so bad!

Weekend Rewind: Soul Sisters, Flower Crowns & Tee Pees in the Forest!

All I could think about this week was going to the Kinfolk Festival

"KINFOLK FESTIVAL is a soul nourishing one-day event designed to re-ignite the Goddess within.  The experience will strengthen your connection with the endless wisdom & infinite power that resides inside you.

Nestled between a mystical forest and a winding creek, KINFOLK FESTIVAL will transport you to a place of serene wholeness.  Here you will feel safe to explore & express yourself freely, rejoicing in an open celebration of higher consciousness, the divine feminine & the power of sisterhood.

Our expert guides will take you on a tranformative & fun journey inward, gently opening your heart, expanding your consciousness and assisting you to unwrap the hidden gifts waiting within.

Taking Stock: Around Here Lately

The taking stock idea was created by Pip at Meet Me at Mikes.  Its a great way to snapshot whats going on in life at the present and reflect. Here is what I came up with...

21 January 2015

Three Word Wednesday

Three little words. Treat Yo Self.

Today I have decided I need to do more of it. Looking after my health, my mind and nourishing my soul. How am I kicking off? Well, I may have bought myself a birthday gift, a ticket to the Kinfolk Festival. It is a soul nourishing one-day event designed to re-ignite the Goddess within. Sounds pretty good doesn't it?!

Anyone else out there needing to take some time out for themselves? Do it! There is nothing like feeling rested, rejuvenated and refreshed. I have some serious goals to kick in 2015, so I want to be in my best possible form and mindset!
